Electronics that are obsolete, broken, and destined for recycling are called electronic waste or "e-waste". E-waste represents 1% of our garbage but contributes 70% of the toxins found in landfills, including toxic materials such as lead, mercury, barium oxide and cadmium. There are many chemical and mineral elements in e-waste, both valuable and hazardous. If recycled properly, this waste can provide valuable sources of secondary raw materials, while keeping toxins out of landfills and our water supplies. Our streamlined e-cycle campaigns and events promote a cleaner city while spreading awareness for an important and timely cause. E-Cycling is for the community and the environment.
As part of our global effort to keep electronic waste out of landfills, we provide organizations worldwide the opportunity to promote environmental awareness through e-waste drives and programs. Together, we create a campaign to fit the needs of any organization and surrounding community. Mondial's experienced teams provide all the custom event materials, media releases and event management, followed with ongoing support. As stewards of the environment, we are committed to helping great organizations continue their much needed work by offering environmentally responsible recycling campaigns. Let us show you how!
Mondial works in partnership with our clients to ensure compliance with current and expected legislation in each of our operations worldwide. We provide our clients with detailed reports for each container or shipment of any waste equipment processed. Our recycling programs follow a strict adherence to the R2 (Responsible Recycling) accredited certification program, endorsed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) of the European Union. Customized reporting programs are available to meet any specific requirements.
At the recycling facility, waste electronic products are dismantled and separated into commodity groups based upon their material composition. Hazardous items such as CRTs, batteries, circuit boards, and even toner cartridges require specialized processes to recover the hazardous substances such as lead and mercury safely. The material groups are then sent for processing for final reclamation with audited downstream refiners and smelters to return the commodities to the manufacturing stream when possible. We maintain strict controls on all outgoing material to ensure no equipment or components ever go to a landfill. After processing and material recycling, a Certificate of Recycling and detailed Disposition Report are issued for each container or truckload processed.
Any electronic data is securely wiped or shredded to protect sensitive business information and to comply with Acts such as Gramm-Leach Bliley and HIPAA in the US. Mondial provides in-facility and on-site solutions for the secure destruction of data storage devices, meeting DOD 5220.22-M (Department of Defense) standard and the guidelines established by the NAID (National Association for Information Destruction). We offer our clients the security of knowing that their electronics recycling is done safely, securely, and in compliance.
